  • My ancestor was from the Czech Republic or Czechoslovakia. Can I apply for citizenship?
You may be eligible for Czech citizenship by descent if you are a direct-line descendant of a Czech or Czechoslovak citizen. Even if your ancestors emigrated and lost their original Czech or Czechoslovak citizenship, you could still qualify. However, determining eligibility can be complex, especially if the Czech connection is through more distant relatives. There are more ways how to gain citizenship after your ancestors (three in total) and each requires a different process.

We recommend contacting us by e-mail or through the contact form below. Based on the information you provide, we will assess your case and suggest the most appropriate next steps.
  • How long does the process take?
The timeline can vary depending on several factors. On your side, it depends on how quickly you can gather and submit the necessary documents—some of which may need to be apostilled, officially translated, or have a certified signature.

Once the application is submitted, the relevant authorities have different deadlines depending on the specific case and what needs to be addressed. However, in our experience, the overall process typically takes between 6 months to 1 year, mainly due to the time required to search for records in archives and other administrative tasks.

We always aim to expedite the process on our end as much as possible.
  • How much will the entire process cost?
The cost of the process depends on each client's unique situation, as every case requires an individual assessment. After carefully reviewing your specific needs, we will provide a tailored price offer that reflects your circumstances so you know the total price ahead and can decide whether you want to cooperate with us.

We offer personalized service and ensure that every case is handled with care and attention. Additionally, we offer discounts for submitting multiple applications to help reduce costs.
  • What supporting documents do I need to provide?
The key documents you will need to provide include birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates and naturalization certificates. Depending on your case, additional documents may also be required. We will guide you through the process and help you identify exactly what is needed.

Please note that key documents must be provided in original form or as duplicates, most typically with apostilles. Without your help with obtaining the documents in the required form, we will not be able to move forward. Do not worry, though. We will guide you through the whole process.
  • How can I obtain my ancestor's Czech documents?
Czech documents, such as birth, marriage, or death certificates, are typically obtained from civil registrars or archives.

If you need any documents originating from the Czech Republic, we can assist you in obtaining duplicates. Please note that this service is subject to a separate fee, which will be outlined in your personalized price offer.
  • What are my chances of being granted citizenship?
To determine your chances of being granted citizenship, we conduct a thorough evaluation of your case. This includes reviewing the background family information you provide and if needed consulting with the relevant authorities to assess your eligibility.
  • Will I have to pay taxes in Czechia if I get Czech citizenship?
Whether you will be subject to taxation depends on whether there is a double taxation treaty between the Czech Republic and your country of residence. These treaties aim to prevent double taxation, meaning that if you pay taxes in one country, you generally won't be taxed again for the same income in the other.

If you do not live in the Czech Republic and do not own property or have any source of income here, you generally wouldn't be subject to Czech taxation. For personalized advice, we recommend consulting a tax advisor familiar with both Czech and your home country's tax regulations.
  • Can my kids get Czech citizenship?
Yes, a child automatically acquires Czech citizenship at birth if one parent is a Czech citizen when the child is born. If your child is born abroad and you would like to obtain Czech citizenship for them, we're here to help! Feel free to learn more about the process and contact us for assistance.
