Czechwise has obtained the first confirmed figures on Czech citizenship acquisitions in 2025 directly from the Ministry of the Interior. While the Ministry’s full annual report has not yet been published, these preliminary numbers already offer a clear snapshot of how Czech citizenship was granted last year.
According to the Ministry, in 2025:
- 4,610 individuals acquired Czech citizenship through naturalization under Section 11 of the Czech Citizenship Act.
- 774 individuals acquired citizenship by declaration under Section 31, a pathway often used by former Czech or Czechoslovak citizens and certain descendants.
- 185 individuals acquired citizenship by declaration under Section 32, a provision designed also primarily for Czech or Czechoslovak descendants
These figures come directly from official Ministry data provided in response to our request. While the detailed breakdown has not yet been released, the numbers confirm that declaration-based citizenship, especially among descendants, remains an active and meaningful pathway.
We will share a deeper analysis once the Ministry publishes its full report.
