What you might discover about your family

Every family history is different, and the amount of available information depends on the time period, region, and preservation of records.

In most cases, we can trace family lines back to the late 18th century (around 1780), and often even further.

At the same time, some records may be incomplete or missing. When that happens, we explain what can be reliably confirmed and where the limits of the available records are.

Our research focuses primarily on Czech archival sources. These records usually do not contain detailed information about life after emigration, so the research typically covers your family history up to the point your ancestors left the Czech lands.
